Anoopindar Bhalla

Dr. Anoopindar Bhalla is a pediatric critical care physician, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and clinical researcher at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and the University of Southern California. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and received her medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her pediatrics residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital and her pediatric critical care fellowship at CHLA. She joined the CHLA faculty after completion of her training in 2011. Her research focuses on methods to improve care for mechanically ventilated critically ill children, particularly those with pediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). She has active studies in pediatric ARDS related to epidemiology, pathophysiology, biomarkers, and post-intensive care unit recovery. She currently has funding through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to investigate ventilator management strategies, the physiologic biomarker of dead space, and multiple organ dysfunction in pediatric ARDS. Dr. Bhalla plans to use these observational studies to inform future clinical trials to test therapies to improve both short and long-term outcomes of pediatric ARDS.
