Sinno Simons is a neonatologist at Sophia Children’s Hospital who was trained in the Netherlands (Rotterdam, Amsterdam) and Germany (Berlin) as a neonatologist- clinical pharmacologist and as a researcher specialized in neonatal pharmacology. His main research focus is on the development, study and evaluation of current and new therapies within neonatal care, with a special focus on analgesia, sedation and respiratory stimuli. He recently became the head of the neonatal division within the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive care department. He is leading the doxa-trial, an international multicenter placebo controlled drug trial investigating the long-term effects of doxapram in preterm infants.
