Alette Koopman

Alette Koopman, MSc., is a technical physisian and clinical researcher. She works in the pediatric intensive care unit at the Beatrix Children’s Hospital, part of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). In 2015, she earned an MSc in Technical Medicine from the University of Twente in Enschede. In 2019, she was among the first in the Netherlands to complete a clinical specialization program for technical physicians, focusing on artificial ventilation and respiratory support in children. Her work involves initiating and adjusting the ventilation process for pediatric patients, aiming to reduce the duration of mechanical ventilation. This is achieved through individualized patient assessments and the implementation of refined techniques to optimize respiratory support.

Her PhD is focusing on the neuro-respiratory drive and effort of mechanically ventilated children and optimization of current ventilation practices.
