Omar Alibrahim

Dr. Omar Alibrahim is a pediatric intensive care physician who serves as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, and the Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program at Duke University Hospital System. He also is the Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Duke School of Medicine.

Before Joining Duke in 2021, Dr Alibrahim spent the past 18 years at the University of Buffalo New York where he served as the Division Chief and Medical Director of the PICU, the Fellowship program director and ECMO director.

 Dr Alibrahim clinical research focuses on Extracorporeal therapies (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation – ECMO, and Apheresis therapies), Invasive and Non-invasive Mechanical ventilation, PARDS, and Medical education). Dr Alibrahim has developed a special interest and expertise in the use of negative pressure ventilation in the PICU over the last 12 years and has pioneered its use in the USA.
