Padmanabhan Ramnarayan

Dr Ramnarayan is Reader in Reader in Paediatric Critical Care, Imperial College and Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care at St Mary’s Hospital in London. He is currently Deputy Director of the Centre for Paediatrics and Child Health at Imperial College London, and Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (CATS).

Ram obtained his MBBS (medical degree) from Pondicherry University in 1995, MRCP (UK) from the Royal College of Physicians London in 1997, and MD (research degree) from University of London in 2009. He has formal clinical trials training from the Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholar Research Training Programme (2014), and holds several fellowships including FRCPCH and FFICM.

His main research interests are pragmatic clinical trials, particularly in the area of paediatric ventilation (non-invasive respiratory support), artificial intelligence models to aid decision making, and large population-based epidemiological studies in critically ill children. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles including in high impact journals such as NEJM, JAMA, Lancet and Intensive Care Medicine, and contributed to numerous book chapters. He has been invited to several international conferences to deliver lectures as well as teach postgraduate students.
